Dubois County, February 3, 2014: Saturday, February 1, the Dubois County Community Foundation hosted its sixth community fundraiser, Trivia Night, where approximately $10,500 was raised.
The community fundraising event drew over 350 people who came out for a night of fun and entertainment, all to support the operations of the Community Foundation and numerous endowments. Of those in attendance were Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann and Huntingburg Mayor Denny Spinner, both participating in trivia competition and the amusing games.
Kurt Fuhs, board member of the Community Foundation and Event Chair for Trivia Night said, “It was another great event thanks to all the support we receive. It was evident the group was having a good time, all for a great cause.”
This year’s champion was Team WBDC, led by team captain Kelsey Merkel. The team, which included two of their local listeners, played for the Huntingburg Assistance Endowment and received a $500 contribution for their first place finish. The Huntingburg Assistance Endowment provides support to charitable organizations that serve the poor and underprivileged.
Other teams finishing at the top were second place Einstein’s Prodigies, led by Brent Sternberg, who played for Jasper Public Library Endowment and Brandon Boeglin’s, Need Some Help Here! team, who played for Erin Julian Memorial Fund and finished third.
This year’s Trivia Night brings the total raised over the last six years to nearly $45,000 for the Community Foundation in support of building charitable endowments, distributing grants and convening on community issues.
