Dubois County, April 5, 2016: A Dubois County student has been named recipient of a four-year, full-tuition scholarship as the Dubois County Community Foundation 2016 Lilly Endowment Community Scholar.
Isaac Austin will receive full tuition to the Indiana college of his choice and a $900 yearly stipend for required books and equipment.
Austin is a senior at Forest Park High School. He is the son of Matthew and Tracy Austin. He has been accepted to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and plans to major in Computer Science.
The Community Foundation Scholarship Oversight Committee submitted the recommendation of the nominee and alternates to Independent Colleges of Indiana, Inc. (ICI), the statewide scholarship administrator for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program. Final selection of the recipient was made and released to the Dubois County Community Foundation ICI. ICI is a nonprofit corporation that represents 31 regionally accredited degree granting, nonprofit, private colleges and universities in the state.
The scholarship is the result of a statewide Lilly Endowment initiative to help Hoosier students reach higher levels of education. Indiana ranks among the lowest states in percentage of residents over the age of 25 with a bachelor’s degree. There were 142 scholarships awarded statewide.
