It starts with Black Friday, followed by Cyber Monday. And now we have GivingTuesday.
“Right now, we’re at the start of two seasons—the shopping season and the giving season,” states Brad Ward, CEO of the Dubois County Community Foundation. “This is a brilliant national movement, a day to give everyone time to pause and think about what’s most important at the holiday season.”
#GivingTuesday™ is a campaign to create a national day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support non-profit organizations by making online contributions or sharing via social media what matters to each of us this holiday season.
Launched in 2012, largely through social media channels, #GivingTuesday™ had more than 2,500 recognized #GivingTuesday™ partners from all 50 states of the United States, including the Dubois County Community Foundation.
The collective efforts of partners, donors and advocates helped fuel a marked increase in charitable giving on GivingTuesday. Nationally, the movement now has the United Nations Foundation as a principal funder and partner.
Online donations are encouraged during #GivingTuesday™, or contact the Community Foundation at 482-5295 or www.dccommunityfoundation.org to learn more about giving in
